A Panoramic Garden of Verse
LEGEND OF THE WABASH
Let me tell you about the Wabash
Whose mystic waters flow, Was started by a Maiden And Brave of long ago.
The
Indian children sang,
With joy the women cried. No one seemed to know An Indian Brave had died.

THE SPIRIT OF THE MAGNIFICENT STAG
Oh! the glassy eye and the stare of death,
And the pool by the side of the head.
And I danced with joy and I shook with fear
At the majesty, the holiness of the dead.
So I stood in a most magnificent pose
With my head both high and proud. I knew his spirit had replaced my own, It was justice as the gods had allowed.
